The Little Black Dress

One of the staples of any woman’s wardrobe is the little black dress. The black dress is a classic look and can fit any occasion. It can be dressed up or down. A simple black dress can be stunning all you need is the right shoes, some cute jewelry and of course you have to carry a purse that compliments the look. Since we are still in the the quarantine and I won’t be going out anytime soon, well at least not me…I decided to take a look at a few of my looks over the years. These pictures were all taken prior to be starting my blog some going back as far as circa 2000 and yes I still have that dress. Yall know I like to recycle clothes. So let’s take a walk down memory lane and check out some of my lil black dresses.

So this a basic casual black dress. I accessorized with red peep toe pumps and a graphic print Guess Purse (I love Guess Purses and own many). I topped off the look with a pair of my Black Ankh earrings (also own many of them in different sizes and colors, what can I say I’m a creature of habit but I love the look of the Ankh and also what it represents-it is the Egyptian hieroglyph symbol for “Life”). This was at a Martin Lawrence concert which I believe was 2010. Its been so long ago I can’t remember the exact date.
Here’s the same dress as pictured above this time it made an appearance at a party in 2019. Accessorized with red shoes, gold bracelet and black and gold earrings. Recycle, recycle, recycle is the motto. I have had this dress several years but believe I have only worn it these two times.
This is a simple black dress I pulled out of the closet for a R Kelly concert. Can’t remember what year this was but my guess would be around 2011. This is another dress I have had for several years but have only worn a couple of times. Still got it and will potentially wear it again if an opportunity presents itself. I accessorized with black earrings, a red bracelet that I purchased on a trip to Greece, a silver necklace (silver is my favorite) and a pair my favorite boots, yep still got them. Funny story…the boots were the same design as the carpet at the venue. I was so tickled when I saw it😁😂🤣😂
Here I am at another party a couple of years ago. Wearing a black ruffled dress. Those black and gold earrings made another appearance and this time I am wearing a black lace bootie shoe. Awww look at me. Photo is not the best quality, oh well.
Here I am on my way to the Anita Baker concert a couple of years ago. I was so excited because she is one of my all time favorites and I hadn’t seen her in concert since the 90’s. This is a form fitting sleeveless black dress with a floral pattern. I love this dress. I have had this one probably close to 20 years, yes I said 20…and it still looks good. Only wore it a couple of times. Accessorized with black and silver jewelry and there goes those black lace bootie shoes again.
Here I am 2019 on my way to see Anthony Hamilton and Eric Benet. Black cut out dress had this one over 10 years and had never worn it. It had been hanging in the closet so I said let me see what I can do with this….I wore some cheetah print pumps, threw on some gold jewelry and look there go those black and gold earrings again. Recycle, Recycle, Recycle.

Although I am an introvert by nature and tend to be a homebody I do love to get out for a nice live entertainment event or party where I can get out there on the floor and show them what I’m working with….I don’t have many dance moves but the few that I do have I work em🎶🎵🎶😁. I am anxiously awaiting the quarantine to be over so that I can get out and do a few things and share the experiences and outfits here on my blog. The Rhona done just about got on my nerves. Although I do stay at home most of the time I enjoy a good night on the town every now and then. Let’s hope that things eventually get back to where you can feel comfortable going out every now and then.

The little black dress never disappoints. How many black dresses do you have in your closet? You definitely need to invest in at least one it’s a classic look that never goes out of style.
