While we are in the midst of a pandemic dealing with COVID-19, I am sitting here reminiscing back to the days of travel with no worry and attending public events where we didn’t have to worry about “social distancing”. As we all know by now COVID-19 (Corona Virus) is an infectious, contagious, communicable disease that has taken the world by storm in the past few months. Thousands of people around the world have succumbed to this disease in the past few months. In response many states and local governments have put restrictions in place on when and why you are allowed to be outside of your residence. Here in St. Louis, MO we were issued a Stay at Home order effective March 23, 2020 and the order currently remains in place-indefinitely. This order mandates that you should stay in/at your home unless you have to be out for what is defined as an “essential” reason.
I am a homebody and introvert by nature so staying at home doesn’t really cause me much concern. However I do love to travel when I have an opportunity and I am a huge fan of live entertainment. I love attending concerts, comedy shows, musical, etc. So although I am at home most of the time I do enjoy a social life that is as active as my lil introverted personality can handle. I do love to put on one of my lil outfits and have some fun every now and then. My last soiree took place the weekend of March 7, 2020. I traveled to the DMV area for some fun and entertainment. I was there to attend a concert (Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill at MGM National Harbor in Oxon, Hill Maryland). I stayed in town for the weekend and was able to get some sightseeing in as well. I love visiting the DMV area.
I have mentioned before that my taste in fashion has somewhat of a retro flair. I am very drawn to the fashion of the 1960’s and 1970’s and if you look in my closet this is evident. I love the colors, fabrics and styles from this era. For this particular event I decided to pull out one of my jumpsuits. I have several. I love a cute jumpsuit. They can be playful and fun or sexy and elegant. For this event it was all about fun. So I decided to go with a bright colored fitted jumpsuit that is reminiscent the era of fashion that I love. The fitted design of the jumpsuit also added just a bit of sexy flair. I have owned this jumpsuit for several years. I have worn it a few times and it’s always a big hit. I went with some orange earrings and some of my favorite pieces of jewelry, a silver cowrie shell cuff bracelet, a wooden Ankh ring and cowrie shell ring. I finished the outfit with some brown high heel sandals. I am not big on makeup, so I just did my basic eyeliner, mascara, a little gold tone eye shadow and some lipgloss and Whoa!
I must admit I am looking forward to being able to pull some of my other outfits out of the closet in the near future. I am a firm believer in play hard, work hard so I do like to enjoy myself whenever my introverted spirit feels the need to venture “outside”.
