Tired of Being Tired; Racial Fatigue and Racial Trauma

We are currently in the midst of racial unrest and protest in light of recent events that have taken place in this country. Racism in America continues to take its toll on the emotional and mental wellness of the African-American community.

African American men and women continue to be the target of police brutality and an unjust judicial system that consistently fails to see our worth and treat us equally. Living in a world where you are exposed to racial trauma on a daily basis can be quite exhausting. This constant exposure to traumatic events can in the long term lead to depression, anxiety, issues with anger management and even suicidal or homicidal thoughts. Because these events are such a present part of our reality we often do not recognize that we are in fact being exposed to trauma.

In this video I look at how racial fatigue and trauma impacts our daily lives as it relates to mental health/wellness.
